Currently I am editing my interview with Julie Kane, the Louisiana Poet Laureate. She is such a delight and a great poet. Interviewing her is already a top highlight of 2012.
I wanted to “jazz” up the poetry reading B-roll. Having seen a typographic of an Ira Glass interview by David Shiyang Liu, I decided to use some of the tools on Final Cut Pro X to give some of Kane’s poems the same touch. My plans are to use the “illustrated” poems in the next episode of “Artistically Speaking.”
Louisiana Poet Laureate Julie Kane reads her poetry including poems inspired by the Louisiana Bicentennial and Lake Charles history at the Imperial Calcasieu Museum on Saturday, May 12. The event was presented by the Lake Charles Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Arts Council of SWLA. (COMPLETE AUDIO)

Such a great way to get the young folks interested in poetry.
