Early store openings on Black Friday equals no sleep for those covering the event. I headed out at 11:30 p.m. with American Press report, Taylor Prejean. This was my fourth Black Friday, but this year we fully embraced social media utilizing Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. The above video was the last post using footage shot through out the night.
This video is my favorite and the first of the night. We could only shoot outside of Target since the store manager decided to not allow media inside this year. However, the line outside the store was the story. It was about 0.25 mile long and 2-3 people deep.
We also spoke with the general manager of the mall which was post three. The iPad work so well and I took full advantage of 3g for the short clips. The last post was made from the newsroom but I edited on the ride back (I was not driving).
Not only did I edit my photos tonight on the ipad, i shot the post game interview with it
I was reminded today that 4 weeks ago I made a statement of uncertainty in regards to the iPad2. I did state that I really didn’t find anything very remarkable about the ipad 2 other than being easy to carry around.
However, my mind has been changed in the last couple of days. First, the iPad was great for breaking news on election night. Second, today I shot, edited, and posted the above video while on location at the Millennium Park rebuild. Now that makes the iPad, I must have in my book. Thank you Steve!
