Diego Rivera’s Portrait of Adolfo Best Maugard was not at the High Museum of Art’s Frieda and Diego exhibition but it was on one of the place cards. It’s one of the few paintings of his I have never seen. It was painted in 1913. It has to be one of my favorites of his before he devoted himself to murals.
The Exhibit featured many quotes from both painters. My favorite from Diego was: “I’ve never believed in God, but I believe in Picasso.”
